Acqui Terme, fifteen minutes from the estate, has drawn visitors to its thermal springs since Roman times. La Bollente, a fountain gushing water at a constant 75°C, sits at the heart of the old town, framed by porticoed streets, a Romanesque cathedral, and the ruins of a Roman aqueduct. An easy half-day, on foot.
The nearest village to the estate, Melazzo is a quiet cluster of stone houses beneath the ruins of its medieval castle. A handful of trattorias, a Sunday market, and little else — which is rather the point.
The capital of white truffle country, about an hour west, with elegant arcaded streets, some of Piemonte's finest restaurants, and — every autumn — a truffle fair that draws chefs from across Europe. Barolo and Barbaresco lie just beyond.
A quiet market town in the Asti hills, and something of a local secret. Worth an unhurried afternoon among its porticoes and wine cellars, without a single tour bus in sight.
Scattered through the Monferrato hills, these oversized painted benches frame views across the UNESCO-listed vineyard landscape — an odd, cheerful landmark, and a good excuse for a walk or a bike ride along the quiet country lanes.
Trisobbio, Morsasco, Cremolino — hilltop castles and stone villages, all within half an hour of the estate.
The easiest way to arrive — the estate is about 15 minutes from the centre of Acqui Terme, along quiet country roads. A private charging point for electric vehicles is available on site, free for guests to use during their stay.
Direct trains connect Acqui Terme to Genoa and Alessandria, with onward connections to Milan and Turin. The station is a twenty-minute drive from the estate, and taxis are usually available on arrival.
The closest international airport, about an hour by car through the hills and down to the coast. Direct flights connect Genoa to most major European cities, and a private transfer can be arranged on request.
An hour and a half north, Torino Airport also handles international routes, with the added appeal of a day among the Alps and the elegant arcades of Piazza San Carlo on the way back.
